2015 trends in home textiles

Busy, busy beginning of new year so it’s been a while since I last posted. However I’ve been working to gather new and hopefully interesting material to share with you and today I’m giving you the freshly baked trends of 2015 in home textiles.

Every January Frankfurt hosts the biggest trade show dedicated to the textiles industry – Heimtextil. From big brands such as Esprit, Desigual or Joop to manufacturers of Asia this fair covers all aspects from producing the goods to presenting the designs and future trends.

So what’s hot in 2015?

‘Experience’ is the word for the trend benchmark of this year. The designers proposed 4 themes to cover the styles.

Sensory – new products for the home, which appeal to our growing interest in tactile and sensory impulses.

Mixology – interaction of different identities and cultures. Patterns, prints and colours collide almost chaotically with each other.

Discovery – Taking inspiration from astrophysicists and observing the lunar rocks and meteorites, designers propose fabrics that amaze through texture, filtering the light and coloring in dark and stellar hues.

Memory – Away from consumption stress and rigid must-haves – towards favourites and a genuine feeling of well-being. The materials that decorate life together in the home will be honest, useful fabrics, e.g., denim, wool and linen.

As commented in a previous post, some of the most impressive displays of handicraft and design can be found in the Asian halls where manufacturers from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan exhibit every year their new collections. Below are a few examples of the wonders they produce, what I was able to photograph hiding my phone and camera under the clothes.

With no further comments I leave you to enjoy the rest of photos from the show. What’s the style you’d prefer most – pastel palettes, dark digital printing or natural inspiration?
